Who is a local hero? I am writing a book and am looking for them.?

I am writing a book on local heroes: people who are positively affecting their communities, their state and their world.

Can you tell me about heroes in your area? Nominate them. Send me news links, names, contact info if you can find it. Thanks!

My website is www.SunnyHarborPublishing.org

So far, I have 10 people / groups.

I have

**a multi-millionaire who has chosen to live in a poverty area and help the poor.

**a homeless man who now runs a homeless shelter

**a batered wife who now runs a shelter that's saved 25,000 women and children

**a teacher who taught until she was 90!

**a journalist who has influenced world leaders to be accepting and tolerant

**a doctor %26amp; minister who have teamed to help lead generational welfare kids out of their pattern of poverty

**a law enforcement officer who nearly died from an on-the-job injury %26amp; now helps minorities

**a school class that mentors underprivileged 2nd graders

**a world record holder teaching kids to swim|||Anyone still doing Katrina clean up in Lousianna.

Any of the people from Red Cross who fed me from converted ambulances while I was doing clean up in Lousianna. The Red Cross should be able to put you in contact with some of them.

Kent Biffle, of the Dallas Morning News, who's been a journalist and lately Texanna specialist who's been with the News for over 40 years. He's brought an entertaining sense to the history of our state and a dry sense of humor. It's fun to laugh while I learn.

A 16 year old in Hollywood, Fla that saved $5000 of his own money, and used it for Christmas presents for the family of a man who's license was suspended. CBS 4 in Hollywood should be able to get you in touch with him.

Larry Stewart, the famed secret Santa that gave away millions to cash strapped people and built a legacy of giving.

JT|||My local hero will always be Michael Hutchence. He was a singer/songwriter/dreamer of the band INXS. He died at around the age 37 in 1997. This death was a mystery for the longest time, some accept it, but like me I think it was an accident gone wrong. He had no reason to die, he had a baby daughter, and a new wife Paula Yates/Hutchence. So Mike's death was an accident for sure. The critics don't think so, they called it Suicide.|||Local to where?

Check out names on Monuments in your local area.

Some street names are made after heros that are mostly forgotten. Ask you council or Historic society aroud your local area about any names like that|||I don't know if this woman can be classified as a "hero" so to speak, but in our local community she is well recognized for many things. First of all she was the first female prosecutor to sustain a death sentence in Louisiana. In my book that is not what makes her a hero (sure she was a tough prosecutor, tough on crime, fair and has a hear tmost prosecutors do not have) the amazing thing about tis is that she still keeps in touch with not only th evictim's family but the defendants as well. Clearely***if anyone deserved the death penaly this person did, heinous crime, no remorse etc.) she was featured in a local magazine on the cover titled "dyamic duos" a photo of her and her husband both attorneys. But the real hero in this amazing woman is tha she gave up her job as the highest paid da in the state to go out on he rown, b/c she was tired of watching the acccused not get a fair shake, a white woman about 39-40 recognized and was not afraid to admit that the judiciial system pu the poor, poverty stricken an dunfortunatley in this area that tends to be 90% black males at a severe disatvantage. The rich can hire hot shot criminal defense attorneys, the middle class can scrape up enough money to get a decent atty, but the poor get stuck wit public defenders. they are not bad attorneys per se , just overworked and undrpaid and seldom even meet the clientbefore trial, so she left her guaranteed salary, and al he rbenefits to open her own practicce so that she could "even or level the playing field" she is awesome an dnow the poor have a c hance, no she is noit free, but she takes cases , take swhat people can pay, allows slow ans small payment plans, and now the poor have a fighting chance of staying out of angola or the death chamber for a minimum fee that anyone could afford. she is also active in the march of dimes and a variewty of othe rcharities, has a handicapped child, i do not know how she does it all, but we are lucky to have her here. for more info e-mmail me.|||It depends on what your criteria is.

Why doesnt any club bid for Denilson (the good 1, not the overrated arsenal guy) ?

he is a 31 yr old winger who recently had a trial at Bolton

currently contracted to a vietnamese league side, I think it is ludicrous that no even a championship side like Crystal Palace, West Brom or Ipswich have made any attempts to buy the guy

He has been capped by Brazil over 60 times and is a previous transfer fee world record holder (a 拢21m transfer to real betis in 1998)

the guy is only 31 yet it seems to me that he is being treated like a 50yr old - not considered even good enough for MLS football therefore he is plying his trade in vietnam|||Even i'd have him at Chelsea tbh

so what if he's only a dribbler? if he can get the ball past people that's good enough for me and it's more than alot of players can do these days

there'l probly be a club that will bid for him , but with him being where he is not many people will be watching to see how he's getting on.|||if he is good you can go and buy him|||rofl @ the overated Arsenal guy.Is he even rated in the first place?

No Premiership midfielder has better ball retention or more interceptions, only two tackle with a better success rate than the young Brazilian and only four make more tackles. The biggest compliment you can ever pay a screening midfielder is if you do not notice him, Denilson`s immaculate work has gone largely unnoticed by doing those jobs that defensive midfielders must master so well.

The Denilson you just mentioned is just a dribbler and he is 31 year old.Who want's to have a 31 year old winger in a team?

@Mr X : Beckham is a RM first and Theo starts ahead of Beckham for England anyway.

Beckham offers more with crosses and freekicks.. Denilson is just a dribbler and dats bout it..

Drogba as a winger lmao Even you know he is better as an out an out striker.|||^(edit)^ indeed. my point is, both players i mentioned have done well over the age of 31, regardless of position

drogba's 32. beckham's 34. you wouldnt want one of them on your team?

"I'm twice as good as the number 10" - on why he chose the number 20 for Brazil.

On David Beckham: "He鈥檚 pretty. So he鈥檚 very lucky: he鈥檚 both a footballer AND pretty. I鈥檓 this ugly and still the women are all over me"

alot of teams can use this kind of attitude. the guys a world cup winner too, so no more chokin' in the big competitions|||nah the trail at bolton was a long time ago and it ended he is going to pay in Thailand right now i believe. i dont think he has the stamina for the Prem.|||where is he now.....let me think oh yes he is at ping pong Cement works pub team Vietnam......lmfao|||probably because he will want big money from the club who sign him. he's good on his days,, quick, skillful, talented, and scored a lot of goals but sometimes he's just too selfish like Ronaldo (peace)...

LMAO Denilson (Arsenal) had better stats than Alonso last season,, how could you say he's overrated ?|||I know he's quality i'd love to see him in the prem

Fastest sprinter...EVER? Joe Calzaghe v Usain Bolt.?

Joe Calzaghe v Usain Bolt.....

Usain Bolt is the 100 and 200metre world record holder and Olympic sprint champion.

IF Joe Calzaghe were to line up next to Bolt, who would win if...

Just befopre the gun went off, someone shouted to Joe...."Chad Dawson and Carl Froch are behind you"?

After hearing those two names, my money says Joe would break the world record, but keep sprinting, straight out of the arena, all the way home to the safety of his house, under his blankets in bed!!

Who do you guys think would win???|||lol nice one shake. Yeah i think Calzaghe would come in first. The man is a disgrace to the sport of boxing... he personally is not a disgrace but his attitude and opinion of himself and the sport sure is a disgrace.|||Bolt. Your stupid|||pbf..deffo runs around the ring like a an olympic athlete never squared up to anyone in his life,including his step mother....but the fastest ever was roy jones as it took many years for calzage to catch him up and whup his pathetic cowardly @ss..get it in you you ballbag..46-0..you aint got nothing to compare...joe=no.uno and you know it..tosser|||That twist really had me laughing.

I say Calzaghe would beat Bolt.|||I'll put my money on my old friend Joe! He is a sprinter all right, especially when someone shouts, "Chad and Carl ...."|||you're gay|||And if Hopkins were lining up beside them, he'd run in third in 15 seconds, he'd then complain that he actually won the race but his lane was much longer than the other lanes, and all his supporters would claim that (a) yes indeed he won and (b) Calzaghe owed him a rerun...

FWIW if Calzaghe did fight Dawson, beat him, and then retired, we'd be hearing that he was ducking Diaconu...|||LMAO calzaghe dont want none.

A "guess who I am" game! Remember in Nov. we can go backward or forward?

With the help of my father and our friends in the oil industry (including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected governor of Texas. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS: I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making Texas the most polluted state in the Union. Maybe they thought your name is Hitler?|||no, probably someone got bored by the length of the answer.

Who is better, Phelps or Spitz?

Who is better, Spitz or Phelps? Well, the reality is that every one of the top eight in the comparable events were better in 2008 than was Spitz in 1972.

As you read this little tid bit of information, keep in mind that Phelps also swam the 200m and 400m Individual Medley. The 400 IM is, without a doubt, the most grueling race in all of swimming. Phelps set world records in both of those races. Phelps swam 5 individual races and set world records in 4 of them. Spitz went 4 for 4..

Mark Spitz, 1972 .....................2008 Olympic results

All of Spitz’s times

were world records..............1st.............8th Place

*200 m butterfly...2:00.7......1:52.03 (Phelps-WR)........1:55.14

**200 m freestyle 1:52.78.....1:44.85 (Phelps-WR).......1:47.47

***100 m freestyle 51:22.......47.21.........48.33 (no Phelps)

..............................WR(47.05… set in prelims by Alain

................................Bernad who was also the winner.

****100 m butterfly....54.27......50.58 (Phelps)........51.86

* Michael Phelps split 53.53 at 100 meters, the HALF WAY point of his 200 meter butterfly which was faster than Spitz’s 1972 World Record (54.27) swim for the 100 (of course, Phelps still had 100 meters to go!). Phelps set a world record in winning

**Phelps’ 100 m split (half way) for his 200 m swim was 51.54, only 0.32 slower than Spitz’s World Record for the 100 m swim in 1972.

***On the anchor of the US’s 400 free relay, Jason Lezak swam a 46.06. However, on relays, the swimmer has a rolling start and the time does not count as a record. Nevertheless, Lezak’s split was the fastest split in history by about 0.5 seconds. For those of you who are familiar with or swam in 25 yard pools in high school or college, Lezak’s 100 meter split converts to a :39.75 for 100 yards!!! Phelps did not swim this event.

****Ian Crocker (4th at Olympics) is the current world record holder at 50.40 seconds. Crocker set that record a bit over 3 years ago. This was the only event in which Phelps did not set a world record.

So, what do you think? |||Well, I would have to say Phelps. But, Phelps and Spitz were equally good at their own time. I mean, trainings and record times have gotten better through out the years.

Other than that, I would still say Phelps because Phelps won 8 golds in a single Olympics where else Mark Spitz won 7.|||Phelps ofcourse.|||Phelps is the best out of everyone and he totally beats Spitz

|||Phelps|||Phelps all the way!!!!!!!!|||phelps|||I'm going to have to say Phelps.|||spitz did a great job because he was the last one up on the swimming team and really did the best he could and they all won %26lt;3

but come one, phelps is just sooo awesome, he's the best of the best yet so modest about it...winning 6 (i think) gold medals...and yet he's still so nice about it and says he couldnt have done it without his teamates %26lt;3 he's my new role model....PHELPS RULES %26lt;3|||Phelps is better. Spitz depended more upon his relays to get golds, where as Phelps did more individual events. Spitz had to rely more on his team mates to get him through, where Phelps only had to do this twice. Also, just compare the times. Phelps is obviously faster than Spitz was. The only question is, who is the better athlete for his time? I still believe Phelps is, but thats where the real question lies.

Value of this signed football/soccer ball?

Yesterday at the Perth Glory vs Melbourne Victory A-League match I bought a match-sized Perth Glory ball worth $25. After the game I got it signed by 18 Glory players and 2 Victory players. The most known Glory players are first team and future Aussie keeper Tando Velaphi, Victor Sikora, who won 6 caps for Holland, the 4th highest goal scorer in premier league history, and scored a hattrick yesterday, Robbie Fowler, Former St Mirren and Motherwell midfielder Steve McGarry, Glory cult hero Adriano Pellegrino, and Australian striker Mile Strejovski, alongside young talents such as Scott Neville, my favourite player Andrija Jukic, Josh Mitchell and Michael Baird, plus others.

The two Victory players are world record holder for most goals in an international match Archie Thompson and 2009-10 A-League player of the season Carlos Hernandez. I would like to know how much this signed ball would sell for, anybody got any help?|||$1000000|||I would probably pay between 190-250 USD

the peregrine falcon is the fastest animal on the planet reaching speeds of up to 200 miles per hour. how many feet would it travel if it flies at this speed for 10 seconds?|||1.) On Dylan's trip to the beach, he drives 136 km away at 48 km/h. The next day, he drives back home also at 136 km (because the distance from the beach back to home is the same distance as home to the beach). He drives at 60 km/h back home. First you can find the time it took Dylan to go to the beach. Then you can find the amount of time for Dylan to return home. Finally you can add both times up and determine how long Dylan spent driving.

Home to beach:

Distance = rate*time

time = distance/rate

time = 136 km / (48 km/h)

time = 2.83 hours

Let's call this time1

time1 = 2.83 hours

Beach to home:

Distance = rate*time

time = distance / rate

time = 136 km / (60 km/h)

time = 2.27 hours

Let's call this time2

time2 = 2.27 hours

So the amount of time Dylan spent driving is the sum of time1 and time2:

Driving time = time1+time2

Driving time = 2.83 hours + 2.27 hours

==%26gt;Driving time = 5.10 hours

2.) This is similar to the first problem. On Christian's trip to the beach, he drives 112 km away at 50 km/h. The next day, he drives back home also at 112 km (because the distance from the beach back to home is the same distance as the home to the beach). He drives at 60 km/h back home. First you can find the time it took Christian to go to the beach. Then you can find the amount of time for Christian to return home. Finally you can add both times up and determine how long Christian spent driving.

Home to beach:

Distance = rate*time

time = distance/rate

time = 112 km / (50 km/h)

time = 2.24 hours

Let's call this time1

time1 = 2.24 hours

Beach to home:

Distance = rate*time

time = distance / rate

time = 112 km / (60 km/h)

time = 1.87 hours

Let's call this time2

time2 = 1.87 hours

So the amount of time Christian spent driving is the sum of time1 and time2:

Driving time = time1+time2

Driving time = 2.24 hours + 1.87 hours

Driving time = 4.11 hours

By definition:

Average speed = total distance / total time

Average speed = (112 km + 112 km) / 4.11 hours

==%26gt;Average speed = 54.5 km/h

3.) Using the same definition for average speed:

Average speed = total distance / total time

He sprints a total distance of 200 m in a total time of 19.19 seconds. So, his average speed in m/s is:

Average speed = 200 m / 19.19 seconds

Average speed = 10.42 m/s

To convert to miles per hour (mph), multiply by 2.24 because 1 m/s is about 2.24 mph

==%26gt;Average speed = 23.3 mph (That's QUICK!!!!)

4.) The falcon has a speed of 200 miles per hour and travels at this speed in 10 seconds. To determine how far it has gone in this time:

Distance = rate*time

Distance = (200 miles per hour) * 10 seconds

But 10 seconds = 0.0027778 hours

Distance = (200 miles per hour) * 0.0027778 hours

Distance = 0.5556 miles

Since 1 mile = 5280 feet

==%26gt;Distance = 2933.3 feet

While going to the beach time spent driving = 136 / 48 = 2.83 hrs (approx)

While coming back home time spent driving = 136 / 60 = 2.27 hrs (approx)

Total Time taken driving = 5.10

Why aren't the Chinese Olympics being boycotted?

Earlier this week, when Haile Gebrselassie (the Ethiopian world record holder) announced that he won't be taking part in the Marathon race in the Olympics because the pollution would harm his health (he is asthmatic)...

...when the BBC broadcast the story, the Chinese government suspended BBC broadcast, because they didn't want locals from knowing about this story.

Gross levels of pollution

It would be easier than individual countries or competitors deciding. For athletes, it comes around every 4 years, and is what they ultimately train, and make sacrifices for: 12 months a year, good times and bad. There have been boycotts by governments at past Olympics(i.e.Moscow), without anything being achieved politically. China is destined to be the No.1 world power some time in the future; too powerful to bully into submission. Small changes for the better have taken place, mainly benefiting people in the cities. The Government will never allow democracy/free speech, because they know it will be the beginning of the end for Communist one-party rule. So, maybe it is better to employ other ways to try to influence them.|||Honestly do most others care about China or any other country and its problems. Most people are only concerned about their own country and what directly affects them andonly care about niumber one. People basically are selfish.|||Phillip is right- it's all about money. I don't like the idea of the Olympics being in Bejing either, but it's too late to change things now. The IOC is an organization which is not immune to corruption or bribery, and now it looks like the world's athletes are paying the price for their stupidity and lack of vision. Bejing is the capital of a third world dictatorship, one in which even the most basic of human freedoms are restricted or repressed, and yet the IOC seemed to think that somehow they would miraculously change if they were awarded the Games. It hasn't happened, and a lot of people are upset about it. The one bright spot in all this that I can see is that at least the equestrian portion of the Games won't be in Bejing, because the city doesn't have the facilities for it. The horses will be in Hong Kong, which does, thanks to the British, who built the necessary infrastructure when Hong Kong was crown colony.

As for the apathy, or apparent apathy, that's easy to explain- there are too many other things going on for some people to pay much attention to what's happening there right now. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the presidential election in the US, sky rocketing oil prices, the credit and mortgage crunch, the weak dollar, the constant signs of global warming and climate change- these things are all occupying far bigger places in people's minds than the Games are right now. Plus, it's easy to be apathetic when what's happening in a place like that has no direct effect on your life. Most people I know could care less about what is happening over there- they have enough problems of their own right now. When we get closer to the start date, some may wake up and pay more attention, but I wouldn't count on it.|||I too wish that they would be boycotted to teach that damned Country a lesson. There is both unity and diversity among world religions. There are many areas in which religions agree and there are also serious theological, philosophical and practical differences among them. It is quite presumptuous to say that all these differences do not matter and everything eventually leads to the same end.

The Qur’an gives us a very clear guidance on the subject of unity and diversity among religions. Let me emphasize few points from the Qur’anic perspective:

1. According to the Qur’an, human beings are by nature religious. Allah instilled in them His awareness through their “primordial nature” (Al-Fitrah, Ar-Rum 30: 30). This primordial nature in human beings recognizes the Divine, truth and goodness. All human beings have a common religiousness, just as they have a common sense.

2. The story of the origin of human beings is related in the Qur’an at several places (Al-Baqarah 2: 30-39; Al-A`raf 7: 11-25; Al-Hijr 15: 26-44; Al-Israa’ 17: 61-65; Al-Kahf 18: 50; Taha 20: 115-123; Saad 38: 71-85). However, on each occasion some fresh points and new insights are introduced. The basic message of the story is that Allah honored the first parents of humanity and allowed them to stay in Paradise for some time. He told them to enjoy everything, to eat and drink all they wished to but not to approach a certain tree. However, Iblis, the devil who was their enemy, misled both of them causing them to soon depart from Paradise. Upon their expulsion from Paradise they were told to beware of the Devil and not to fall into his traps. They were also assured that Allah would send His guides and messengers among them to show them the path of truth and righteousness. If they followed Allah’s prophets and messengers they would return to Paradise wherein they had been originally placed, or else they would lose it forever and end up in the total perdition of Hell.

3. Thus, as promised, Allah raised messengers from time to time among all peoples. (There was not a community), says the Qur’an, (except that a warner came to them.) (Fatir 35: 24); (For every people there was a guide.)(Al-Ra`d 13: 7) Finally the last Prophet, Muhammad came, concluding this prophetic line and giving the complete and final message of Allah to all mankind (Saba’ 34: 28).

4. The Qur’an emphasizes that the messages of all the Prophets of Allah were identical as far as the fundamental beliefs are concerned (see Al-A`raf 7: 59-93; Al-Anbiyaa’ 21: 25; and As-Shu`araa’ 26: 1-191). However, they differed in some practical details in consideration of the vicissitudes of time and place (Al-Ma’idah 5: 48). The religion of all the Prophets and Messengers of Allah throughout history was one and the same - Islam- that is ‘submission to Allah’. Islam in this sense is not a new religion, it is rather the original religion of all mankind and Prophet Muhammad is not the founder of Islam but its final messenger.

5. Although human beings hail from one and same origin and were originally one community, they do have differences. Not all differences are bad. Some differences are created by Allah. The diversity introduced by Allah in the human situation consists of the variety of genders, colors and languages among human beings and the multiplicity of races and tribes. These diversities are considered natural and are called “Allah’s signs” (Ayat) in the Qur’an (Ar-Rum 30:20-22). They are indicative of Allah’s creative power and are good and healthy since they endow human life with richness and beauty. Allah wants human beings to derive benefit from this diversity and not to allow these diversities to generate unhealthy schisms and divisions among them on the basis of genders, colors, languages or racial and tribal origins.

6. In addition to these natural diversities, there are other differences that were introduced by human beings. These are the diversities of viewpoints among human beings. The Qur’an recognizes the individuality of human beings and of their groups and communities. Not all diversities in views and opinions are considered evil either. On the contrary, sometimes the difference of opinion might be a token of Allah’s mercy. However, the dissension and disputes that lead to divisions and sectarianism are denounced in the Qur’an: (Those who divided their religion and broke up into sects, you have no part in them in the least. Their affair is with Allah. He will, in the end, tell them the truth of all that they did.)(Al-An`am 6:159) Such divisions arose, the Qur’an points out, because of undue selfishness, transgression, aggression and mutual jealousy (Al-Baqarah 2: 213; Aal `Imran 3: 19).|||Religion evolved from mankind's lack of scientific knowledge to explain how the God Yahweh has achieved creating what we can see and not see from His working knowledge of advanced fields of science that are still unknown to mankind today to explain.|||remember the swine running downhill and drowning in the lake. (i don't think god cares if your atheist or not) but it made you hate everything about religion even the good things in the bible. but to the bottom point i agree with you because of Christianity, more so selfish people who molded Christianity to do their personal bidding, a lot of innocent people died for no reason. but this happened because of the idea of genetics and evolution too. hens the holocaust, that had to do with religion too but it was about EVOLVING to be better than to jews remember?

Why are these sentences grammatically incorrect?

I have all the answers to these sentences but I want to know why certain words need to be used instead of others.

1. The reason sharks do not have to eat as much as people think is because they are cold blooded, meaning they burn energy at a slower rate than their warm blooded counterparts.

It should be "as much as people think is THAT sharks are cold blooded"

2. Sometimes created by underwater earthquakes, tsunamis are the cause of considerable damage when they occur.

The "they" in the sentence should be changed but I dont know to what they should be changed to.

3. The amateur magician claims that his stunts are more impressive than the famous American magician and world record holder, David Blaine.

The "than" in the sentence should be changed but I dont know what it should be changed to.|||Most of these aren't because of "grammatical" errors, they just need a better sentence structure. In number 3. the sentence implies that the amateur magicians stunts are more impressive than David Blaine himself, not David Blaine's stunts.

It makes more sense written as:

"The amateur magician claims that his stunts are more impressive than American, David Blaine's world record holding stunts."

Though I'd probably use a synonym for "stunts" in an actual sentence, I used "stunts" twice to avoid confusion.

Hope that helps a little.|||Sharks eat much less food than the average individual would guess. This is because they are cold blooded, meaning they burn energy at a slower rate than their warm blooded counterparts.

"TO HONOUR the dead, the Vietnamese sometimes burn fake banknotes, made out of “votive paper”, for the deceased to spend on the other side. Vietnam’s government recently complained that this votive money looked too similar to the real thing. Unfortunately the resemblance runs deeper than that. Over the past year the value of Vietnam’s official currency—the dong—has been steadily going up in smoke.

Consumer prices rose by 17.5% in the year to April, outstripped only in Ethiopia and Venezuela. The dong has been devalued against the dollar six times since June 2008 (see chart). The Vietnamese have flocked to more reliable stores of value. Those hoping to salvage their savings from the ashes can buy 37.5-gram bars of fine gold, embossed with a Phoenix, from the Phu Nhuan Jewelry Store. Above one Hanoi branch, a digital display shows the price: 38,170,000 dong. There is space only for the first five digits.

But Vietnam’s government seems newly determined to douse the inflationary fires. On May 4th the country’s central bank, the State Bank of Vietnam, raised one of its key rates to 14%, the latest in a flurry of increases since February. Its campaign was accompanied by a package of commitments to tighten money and credit, cut the budget deficit and rein in the country’s state-owned enterprises.

Known as Resolution 11, this package is meant to show that the government is no longer torn between fighting inflation and fanning the recovery. The phrase “economic growth” did not appear in the decree. At the annual meetings of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) this week in Hanoi, Vo Hong Phuc, the Minister of Planning and Investment, conceded that Vietnam might fall short of its official growth target of between 7% and 7.5%. At the same event, Nguyen Van Giau, the central-bank governor, said the cabinet was showing “strong commitment and determination” to pursue Resolution 11. That is just as well, because the governor is himself a member of the cabinet, without the independence central bankers enjoy elsewhere.

The resolution obliges him to curb private credit, which has surpassed 120% of GDP, up from less than 40% in 2001. By this measure Vietnam is the “world record-holder for debt creation”, according to Jonathan Anderson of UBS, although bank deposits have largely kept pace with the expansion of loans.

The central bank is also fighting the creeping dollarisation and even “goldisation” of the economy. In Vietnam, despite its capital controls, holders of dong find it unusually easy to switch to hard currency or soft metal. The country is home to a large stock of dollars, many of them remitted by migrant workers, and a sizeable stock of gold. Vietnam’s banks offer dollar deposits and in Ho Chi Minh City, DongA bank has even installed an ATM that dispenses gold bars.

In April, the government capped the interest rates offered on dollar deposits at 3%, compared with rates as high as 14% on dong accounts. It has also clamped down on the grey-market trade in bullion. Even DongA bank is no longer keen to talk about its gold ATM.

As well as restoring faith in the dong, the government must restore sanity to the public finances. In Resolution 11, it promised to prune public investment, which amounted to 17% of GDP in 2009. There are grave doubts about the efficiency of this spending. Last year Vinashin, a vast, government-owned shipbuilding group, almost sank, after straying far from its core business.

Only if the big programme of public investment bears fruit can Vietnam hope to grow sustainably at 7-8% in the future without suffering the inflationary pressures of recent years. That pressure will continue to rise over the next few months. The government has raised fuel and electricity prices, and its recent tightening will take time to work. “You don’t see the result overnight,” says Ayumi Konishi of the ADB. But the imminent spring harvest should lower rice prices, kept high by farmers hoarding rather than selling their grain. Bags of rice, not bars of gold, are the poor man’s hedge against inflation."|||"To honor the dead, the Vietnamese sometimes burn fake banknotes, made out of “votive paper”, for the deceased to spend on the other side. Why Do People Say Marilyn Vos Savant Has the Highest IQ, when she Clearly DOES NOT!?

"Guinness retired the category of "Highest IQ" in 1990, after concluding that IQ tests are not reliable enough to designate a single world record holder"

She got the title in 1985, there was clearly not a way for a man to counter her. Men were only given 5 years, and therefore how can they compete with this woman?

This is an inaccurate title!

Also, here is a quote from an other website:

"On a more modern level, the highest IQ ever recorded was by Marilyn vos Savant with 228; however that is a mental status ratio IQ (used for children). Adult IQs are measured by standard deviations, in which her adult IQ would compute to about 185, which is lower than famous chess master Bobby Fischer (187)."

http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/9550

The highest IQ according to this website is a MAN!

"There is some disagreement when it comes to the world鈥檚 highest IQ. Marilyn vos Savant is an American magazine columnist, author, lecturer and playwright. It is Marilyn vos Savant that has the highest IQ according to Guinness. Her IQ is 228; however, the test that resulted in this score was taken b Marilyn at the age of 10. Eight months later she took another IQ test and this time scored 167+. Guinness retested Marilyn in the mid-1980s and on that test she scored about 186, which is still very good. A score of 186 is in the 99.999997 percentile, or about 1 in 30,000,000.

It was Marilyn vos Savant who made The Monty Hall Problem controversy. The Monty Hall Problem (named because it sounds like a game show scenario) is as follows: Suppose you're on a game show, and you're given the choice of three doors: Behind one door is a car; behind the others, goats. You pick a door, say No. 1, and the host, who knows what's behind the doors, opens another door, say No. 3, which has a goat. He then says to you, "Do you want to pick door No. 2?" Is it to your advantage to switch your choice?

It seems like the logical way of thinking would lead you to believe there is a 50/50 chance of winning the car if you switch or stay with your original door. Marilyn vos Savant claimed that there was a 2/3 chance of winning the car if you switched. Letter poured in to her claiming she was wrong, but indeed she has been proven to be right, there is a 2/3 chance of winning the car if you switch doors and a 1/3 chance of winning the car if you don鈥檛. The easiest way to explain why this is so is simply because when you originally picked your door you had a 2/3 chance of picking a goat. So if one goat is gone and it is 2/3 likely that you have selected a goat switching the door would give you only a 1/3 chance of picking a goat and thus a 2/3 chance of winning the car. Genius at it鈥檚 best.

There is one man who supposedly has a much higher IQ than a mere 228. William James Sidis鈥檚 IQ is estimated to be between 250 and 300. This has never been confirmed however. If you want to learn more about Sidis check this link out."

SO NO!

MARILYN DOES NOT HAVE THE HIGHEST IQ!|||thumbs up for men

jason k is probably a sexist bigot who think that men are some kind servants to women

@ jason k

no IQ is exact just estimated|||Really, is this important? Who cares if the world's most clever human being is a man or woman?

Is this just to tick boxes, to somehow feel superior off the back of someone whom you've never met or wanted to meet?

Surely gender studies is about how we treat each other, not scoring points all the time. We're the same species.|||Duuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhh, eye jus dunnos...|||I thought Steven hawking had the highest IQ?

*shrugs*|||calm down|||Not true and those sites are untrustworthy. Some other sites continue to spread false rumors like "She took the test millions of times as a way to get that score" even though she was only ten. Its ridiculous.

Your IQ does not change that much through-out your life. A childrens IQ will give you the same IQ as it does an adult. How do I know this? Because I took an IQ test when I was 11 and became a member of Mensa. Twenty years later I took the IQ test again(the adult form) and my score actually raised.

Besides IQ isn't really measuring intelligence, it is mostly measuring capability to be intelligent. And your score can increase overtime.

To prove my point: Marilyn married a man who almost failed out of high school. He scored an extremely low IQ and barely made it into medical school. In the end he invented the artificial heart that has saved countless people. While he had a low IQ he had a high CQ(creative intelligence) which made him extremely sucessful. IQ's are not the only thing that determines sucess. There are other forms of intelligence as well.

@Liam: Stephan Hawking never had his IQ taken. He believes people who brag about their high IQ are losers and will never do anything with thier high IQ. He had an IQ test taken once and only for the sole purpose of making sure his brain wasn't damaged. Nobody knows the true scores of that IQ test. He strongly is against IQ tests. In a way I agree with him.|||That don't confront me.

IQ is irrelevant to what a person can really do. If one doesn't do anything with intelligence, then it is just wasted. What did Vos Savant do? For awhile, she had a newspaper column. Do you think she made any more money on it than Ann or Abby? I doubt it.|||What's your beef with life, man? Why do you care?

Edit:

I just realised something: you went to bare effort and trouble for no reason. You were trying to prove Jason wrong from a previous encounter. Dude, that's low.|||Wow, kind of exploding with frustration there huh? Ok, ok, a man has the highest IQ, and of course that most mean something positive about you too just because you're also a guy.

Seriously though, who cares about what IQ tests have to say, what they measure is how well you did on the IQ test, and usually no more than that.|||A lot of scientists argue whether I.Q. are actually measuring intelligence at all. This is because I.Q. tests are generally the same, and the more I.Q. tests you do, the better you get. So your intelligence remains the same but because you've practised a lot, you naturally get better at it.|||Why do you care so much? It's nearly impossible to determine who is "smarter" or has a higher intelligence score at those levels. Was Einstein smarter than Newton? Was Pascal smarter than Plato? Who knows? And who cares?

The Guiness Book of records retired the category because it's not really possible to determine who is smarter on some absolute scale.|||"James Sidis鈥檚 IQ is estimated to be between 250 and 300."

*estimated*

You typed all of that, only to stumble at the finish line.

How sad.

EDIT:

Yes, but 228 isn't.

EDIT:

If it's not valid, why do you mention it right before mentioning Sidis?|||actually she did have the highest iq ever RECORDED. but the people with the highest iq ever was always men. they just did not have iq tests back then. but with todays technology we can predict the iq of many men who lived 100s of years ago. and we have today, predicted that there were some great men scientists who lived 100s of years ago whose iq were more than 300. the highest we think is around 350 which goes to a male scientist who lived 600 years ago. there are many men whose iq we predict to be above 300 so i am 100% sure there must be at 10 famous men who lived 100s of years ago whose iq was more than 228. so higher that marilyn's. so dont worry.|||lol @ the sexist rant. Thanks for that. I kind of have a sexist *****le theory about the female gender too but I wouldn't tell anyone about it non anonymously. It goes like this: Pretty much every genius ever has been a guy. More specifically though as well, pretty much every genius songwriter has been a guy. Think about it, even in the good bands with female singers, you look it up and bam all the songwriting is done by the guys. From personal experience guys always seem smarter as well. Therefor: guys are a bit smarter on average than girls.

Would you hire this applicant, do you think his recommended successor would be an improvement?

* I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under

the influence of alcohol. I plead guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver's

license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been 'lost' and is not available.

MILITARY:

* I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to

take a drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam.

* I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a

cheerleader.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE:

* I ran for U.S. Congress and lost.

* I began my career in the oil business in Midland, Texas, in 1975. I

bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas. The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.

* I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that

took land using taxpayer money.

* With the help of my father and our friends in the oil industry

(including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected governor of Texas.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS:

* I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies,

making Texas the most polluted state in the Union. During my tenure, Houston replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America.

* I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of

billions in borrowed money.

* I set the record for the most executions by any governor in American

history.

* With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida, and my father's appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President of the United States, after losing by over 500,000 votes.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT:

* I am the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a

criminal record.

* I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over

one billion dollars per week.

I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S. Treasury.

Sounds like that's about all ya quilfied to do.|||He looks like a shoo in for a job in Dubai with Halliburton|||WELL, GUESS WHAT GEORGE BUSH IS DOING AFTER HIS TERM ENDS...................

Working with Bill Clinton ......... guess Bill Clinton likes him enough.

OUT OF Bill Clinton's mouth

Have the Aussies found a cure for Muralitharan? Or are they being subjective to an individual ?

DEBATES over cricket's most emotive issue, whether a bowler is a chucker, could soon be settled immediately by a strap-on device that will measure the angle of the bowler's arm on each delivery.

Researchers at Queensland's Griffith University have developed a prototype of the device, which can be worn on the field and allows umpires to determine immediately if a bowler is bowling illegally.

The device uses electronic sensors to measure the degree of elbow extension from the time the bowling arm reaches a horizontal level to the ball's release.

International Cricket Council regulations stipulate a 15-degree maximum for elbow extension in the bowling action. This is accepted as the point at which the elbow extension begins to become noticeable to the eye.

The ICC and the Marylebone Cricket Club will fund Griffith's development of the device. ICC cricket general manager David Richardson praised the concept of a device that a bowler could wear during a match. He said the technology would be critical in efforts to enforce the regulations on illegal bowling actions.

Sri Lankan spin bowler Muttiah Muralidaran, the world record-holder for Test wickets taken, has come under constant scrutiny throughout his career because of his unorthodox bowling action. He has been tested and found to be within the 15-degree limit.

Griffith University project leader Daniel James said the device would help remove controversy "and let people get on with playing the game". Dr James said the device could be useful in competition, as well as helping coaches to assess arm action early in a player's development to prevent injury, improve performance and correct faults in technique.

"Once somebody has developed an arm action, it is very hard to correct on the day. But asa training tool this device could be invaluable, especially fordeveloping athletes," Dr James said.

"We are hoping to deliver a lot of the performance information about bowling and that would include some of the angles that are of concern. We will also gather information we are looking for to help quantify what a bowler is doing. We can then compare different bowlers."

Until now, the angle of a bowler's arm could only be measured in one of a handful of sports laboratories or by using a complex system of multiple video cameras. "We are using micro-electromechanical sensors, which have got steadily smaller over the years because they are used a lotin automobile technology," Dr James said.|||Another one of those jokes by the Aussies.

Tell them to try it on Brett Lee and Sean Tait first?|||That sounds very interesting %26amp; will surely help future bowlers, but I don't see much wrong with Murali's action. It was approved by ICC after all, so I accept it.|||SHAME ON AUSSIES!!!

No one can stop Murali... he is the current leading wicket tacker for both ONE DAY %26amp; TEST!!!! What a fantastic Performanceses!!!!!|||Hes an ICC recognize bowler|||I don't know why people wary about murali?(pissu B) murali's bowling

action far more better then your walking action,so forget it murali's

bowling action,JUST IMPROVE YOUR WALKING ACTION.

some body has problem for murali's look's when he bowl, WELL NOW

first thing is murali is good looking man no doubt about it, i don't know

who has problem for murali look's when he bowl? BUT i would say ,

Tight (fix) three stumps behind your *** when you go to sleep in bed.

MURALI IS GREAT BOWLER IN WORLD.|||the icc cleared murali, but for their own motives. if they didn't, questions would be asked: "why is he being kicked out now? why didn't someone pick up on it when he was a junior cricketer? how did he play test cricket before this became an issue?"

they obviously didn't want to kick him out, which they would effectively be doing by ruling his action as illegal, because they didn't have an answer for those questions. by definition of the rules at the time, he chucked. he extended his arm by more than 10 degrees, and at the time, the rules only allowed 5 degrees. they now allow 15 degrees. without the rule change, he wouldn't be able to play. (the icc also found other bowlers who broke the 5 degree rule, but only after the murali incident.)

unlike some other spinners from the subcontinent, murali is a wonderful man and nobody has a bad word to say about him personally. it's not his fault that nobody questioned his action until he was in the international spotlight. he was just bowling a cricket ball the same as always. the way crowds treat him, particularly here in australia, is disgraceful. this whole mess is the icc's fault, not murali's.|||MURALI BOWLING ACTION IS DEFINITELY ILLEGAL. HE GETS HIS EXTRA SPIN DUE TO EXTRA BEND IN HIS ARM WHILE HE WAS BOWLING AND U GET EXTRA AMOUNT OF SPIN AS COMPARE TO UR NORMAL BOWLING ACTION. SO ITS UNFAIR FOR OTHER BOWLERS WHO ARE TRYING THEIR BEST IN THEIR TYPICAL ACTIONS WHERE AS MURALI GETS ADVANTAGE FOR HIS ILLEGAL ACTION. EVEN IF ONE PLAYER IN INDIA DOMESTIC CIRCUIT WHOSE BOWLING IS IDENTICAL TO THE MURALI ACTION, HE HAS DECLARED ILLEGAL BOWLING ACTIONS BY THE BCCI. MURALI TAKES MORE ADVANTAGES AS TO THE COMPARE TO THE ANY TYPICAL SPIN BOWLER DUE TO HIS BOWLING ACTION.

YEAH I AGREE THAT HE HAS PASSED THE LAB TEST REGARDING HIS BOWLING ACTION. BUT U DON'T BOWL AT LAB TO TAKE WICKETS AND TO PLAY TO WIN FOR UR COUNTRY.

IN INTERNATIONAL MATCHES, HE BOWLS LOTS OF DELIVERY WITH ILLEGAL ACTION AND THAT IS THE FACT, NOBODY CAN DENY IT.

THIS TYPE OF BOWLER DOESN'T DESERVE ANY CREDIT IN INTERNATIONAL CRICKET. FOR ME HE IS AN ILLEGAL BOWLER AND EVEN IF OTHER MEDIOCRE BOWLERS ALSO FAR BETTER THAN MURALI BECAUSE MEDIOCRE BOWLERS TRY TO TAKE WICKETS WITH LEGAL ACTION WHEREAS MURALI, HE TRY TO TAKE WICKETS WITH ILLEGAL ACTION.

PEOPLE COMPARES MURALI WITH SHANE WARNE, I BELIEVE THAT MURALI IS FAR AWAY FROM SHANE WARNE REPUTATION IN CRICKET. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MURALI AND WARNE IS JUST LIKE DISTANCE BETWEEN EARTH AND SUN. MURALI IS EARTH AND WARNE IS SUN.

MURALI IS DOESN'T DESERVE ANY SINGLE AMOUNT OF RESPECTS, HE IS A CHEAT AND HE BOWLS WITH ILLEGAL ACTIONS AND TAKE LOT OF WICKETS WITH HIS ILLEGAL ACTION.|||I think it is a logical development from the lab. It will help remove dishonesty from borderline actions, if there is any variation between lab testing and actual play. Murali, should welcome this technology, if he was honest in the lab, as it would indicate that his action if illegal on the field.

Would you believe you could fly....at age 89?! What would your idea of a hair raising fundraising be?

London, Aug 1 (ANI): An 89-year-old Brit man has broken the record for the oldest man to cross the Channel, flying at 1000ft, at more than 100mph while strapped to the wings of a plane.

Tom Lackey, who will be 90 next month, performed the amazing wingwalk over the 25 mile stretch of water on a plane just 20 years younger than him.

He made the incredible feat to coincide with the first channel flight by Frenchman Louis Bliriot 100 years ago.

It was also part of an incredible 1million pounds fundraising drive by the pensioner for cancer research after his daughter Anne Joynson became ill last year.

Plane-crazy Lackey, from Solihull, West Mids, and his pilot Mike Dentith, 59, left from Sangatt near Calais at midday on July 25.

Just over half an hour later daredevil Lackey broke the age and language barrier and touched down among jubilant scenes at the Duke of York military school, in Dover.

The thrillseeking grandfather-of two, who has done nine wingwalks, said the flight was the longest and best he had ever done.

"It was fantastic experience flying over the sea, a remarkable day," the Sun quoted him as saying.

"We flew over the Channel at 1000ft at over 100mph, it is an amazing feeling having the wind hit you like that.

"The view was absolutely beautiful, it was quite an emotional experience as well as a thrilling one," he said.

He said hundreds were waiting to see him off in France, including the French equivalent of the red arrows.

"The French aerobatic team had to delay their display by half an hour because they said they wanted to see the mad Englishman take off," he said.

"It was incredible finally seeing the white cliffs of Dover coming into view, when I saw them, I knew I had done it.

"It was a bit of a bumpy landing though, it can be when you are standing on top of the plane," he added.

Lackey is already a Guinness world record holder - he is the oldest person ever to do a loop the loop while standing on the wing of a plane.

His antics have raised more than 1million pounds for charity, each stunt more adventurous than the last. (ANI)|||I think that is a grand gesture! If you are able to do it why not? You ain't dead until you think you are so good for him.|||what possible good does it do anybody to do a walk fly or pull a truck

why not sponsor someone for mowing pensioners gardens , cleaning up our streets or doing a good deed|||That was so brave of him and great news for the charity. I'm too much of a coward to contemplate doing that. Although your idea about doing other stuff for the elderly is a great idea.|||I'd like to try that, not sure I'd do it at that age though.

Do you think Michael Phelps is doped up ?

Considering the history of american athletes in recent times :

Sprinters Marion Jones, Dwain Chambers, Tim Montgomery, and shotputter C.J. Hunter with the Balco scandal.

American Olympic and world 100-meter champion Justin Gatlin failed a drug test when steroids were found in his system in 2006.

2006 tour de France winner Floyd Landis testing positive for an elevated testosterone/epitestosterone ratio.

American swimmer Jessica Hardy, 50-meter breaststroke world record holder testing positive for a banned stimulant just before 2008 Beijing olympics.

Considering the widespread use of steroids in professional sports in the US (Barry Bonds, Gambi, numerous football players .......)

Considering that US labs have often been one step ahead of doping tests by designing new substances that are not tracable. Lance Amstrong is suspected of using a new form of EPO during his tour de France tenures that was not detectable.

Do you think that Phelps could be doped up ?|||LOL. No way! I refuse to believe that. He isn't my hero or anything and I don't even watch swimming besides the Olympics. Anyway, IF he was, then he would have gotten caught already. Like that female US swimmer you got eliminated after they found some drug in her system and it wasn't even steroids. So, if Michael Phelps was "doped up," we would know by now.|||Phelps has volunteered to be tested in every way possible and to also have his urine and blood samples stored for at least 8 years for possible future testing. Obviously you don't do that if you are doping in any way. He wants to be sure that everyone knows that he is a clean athlete.|||Marion Jones tested negative many times after her victory. It was only years later that her doping scandal came out. As usual she denied at the beginning and look now what happen, she admitted of doping. Besides Michael Phelps, that Dara Torres is also in the same boat|||no! his urine is tested twice a day. he gets a blood test once a week. he has allowed for his blood to be saved for future tests that haven't been developed yet. besides the fact that he passes all the urine tests, do you think he would LET people save his blood if he was taking undetectable steroids? i think not.|||He is good, but he is doped. Probably he is taking very well sophisticated drugs that made him more fish than human... But not only him. Also the swimming suit ALL of the swimmers are wearing must be state of the technology lifting them up , making them lighter so they can swim faster...|||It's a fair question considering the recent history of US athletes, but I think Phelps is clean. He won numerous gold medals in Athens in 2004 and he didn't test positive for drugs then. I don't think things are any different in Beijing either.

|||No, of course not. He is just an amazing athlete and he has worked really hard. He has been training since he is 11 years old and he is naturally gifted. The drug testing is so strict now. If he were on something it would have been discovered. Go Michael. Go USA.|||YES HE IS!! All the first class (and not only them) athletes are. The industry that makes steroids is far beyond WADA. They can not track them with the tests they are using today. Probably some drugs will never be tracked. This is the sad truth. Athletes are nowadays dope machines.|||They are ALL doped up . Look at the muscles. Come on don't be naive they have been doing it for years. They have learned how to flush it out before the games. If you don't dope today you simply don't win. |||Of course he is. Marion Jones would have never been discovered if it wasnt for Balco probe. She was never caught on olympics. So spare me BS. While she was golden goose , all was fine. Shed still be fine if Barrys case never came up .|||almost all american athletes are doped ...even an athlete god like Carl Lewis has been discovered was doped as much as it was Marjon Jones , Phelps has been only more clever than Wada insofar |||I did wonder the same thing. But if this were the case, it would have been detected by now. They test for everything, and we would know by now. |||Well he is an American and considering the track record of US athletes it is a fair question to ask. |||He gets tested repeatedly by the IOC. He IS the best swimmer to ever participate in the sport. Apparently, he whipped your dude's a** huh?|||I think it's really sad that as soon as someone is doing really well people automatically think they are cheating. I don't think he is doped up I just think he's worked really hard to be the best x|||No , but I think YOU'RE doped up , or maybe just a dope. Damn , I get so tired of you canadians whining.|||Yea, definitely!|||NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO|||No, but the new hightech body suits are BS.

But Phelps won it "by the rules" hands down, no doubt.|||No! Michael Phelps doesn't sit around all day and play X Box or Wii Stations and down Taco Bell Burgers |||No - they check for those now.

Sorry.

|||Naw', If he did, He wouldn't be swimming in Beijing!|||no!! atleast i dont think so!!|||I would be surprised if he was, sad and surprised. With the change in technology in the suits they wear it isnt out of the realm of belief that these swim times are legit without doping.

Also before you go off here, the US isnt the only country to have doping issues, so get off that high horse. A number of riders in the Tour de France over the past number of years have tested positive, some US some not. Olympians are the same, some US some not. So just tossing out US athlete names is uncalled for and pathetic, If your going to address doping as a problem, its a global problem, not specific to one country.

Before you go tossing baseball player names in there, and the likes of Hardy (we still don't know what she tested positive for even) the IOC has a much better and comprehensive testing plan than baseball or other sports for that matter. The tests today are better than ever (yes so are the drugs), so as a society, we need to give these athletes the benefit of the doubt. The day we are so jaded that we assume anyone who wins a race or event is doped up is the day we should no longer have the events, otherwise what is the point?

Musical Urban Legends?????? (Aka the most ridiculous claims you see made about various musicians)?

I was just on Youtube chillin to some music when I decided to read the comments.......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Oa2yCnpn…

"FumanchuBros - Greatest voice on the planet. 8 Octaves ...world record holder ..." *Rolls Eyes*

Don't ya love how often people just pull stuff out of their butts and instead of actually bolstering their argument... they just loose all credibility (heck I can think of a couple people on here that do that anytime they open their mouths)

Of course, I have seen similarly ludicrous claims made about Freddie Mercury too (what like owning a ridiculous 3.5-4 octave range ain't good enough?)

MQ: So what other killer claims have you seen made.. fastest drummer, best octave range, etc that just made you wanna LOL and punk slap the person?

MQ2- Which musician in general would you say has the most outrageous claims made about them? (Kurt Cobain being the bestest Singer/Guitarist EVAH!, Jim Morrison sucking cuz he ain't Freddie Mercury, Freddie Mercury's vocals cure cancer, etc)

BQ- Now Playing?|||MQ: Travis Barker being an amazing God-tier drummer... there's plenty of Travis Barker drum solo youtube videos with at least 2 millions views and thousands of thumbs up...

One that really annoys me is the whole "hurr, u wish u could pley like him/her/it." First off, you don't have to be a chef to know when something tastes like crap. Second, the people that say that have never heard me play. I could be Yngwie Jr. for all they know. And third, even if they were more technically proficient than me, that doesn't change the fact that they blow chunks of gorilla testicle juice (I've been lured into plenty of fauxcore videos by people in this section, so I've gotten literally dozens of replies that make use of these accusations)

*****Edit, we have a new contender!: "Dear god.. Why have you tooking all our good musicians away!? You took our best guitarist, dimebag. You took our best bassist, cliff. And now our best drummer, jimmy. To give you a heads up, and save you some time, our favorite singer is justin beiber :)"

MQ2: Hendrix... I remember I got in an argument with some old dude who claimed that no one could ever be better than Hendrix... the old man kept claiming that "even if you play a Hendrix song perfectly note-for-note, you still won't get the sound that Hendrix got". No disrespect to Hendrix, but if people consider you the best guitarist ever because of your unique tone, then your fans are retards. That's like thinking Sonic Youth is the best band ever because they don't tune their instruments.

BQ: The Final Fantasy IV battle theme, Nobuo Uematsu is an amazing composer.

-For any deceased musician: "God wanted (insert name of famous, deceased musician) to play in his band in Heaven" or something along those lines

-Rob Halford can kill people with his screams

-Rusty Cooley disproved Einstein's theory of relativity by sweep-picking faster than the speed of light

BQ- In the Halls of Awaiting by Insomnium|||The Led Zeppelin "mudshark" story. CRAZY. It happened supposedly, but the details are always sketchy and distorted. Either way, a ginger chick got something shoved up her... you know.

http://www.snopes.com/music/artists/muds…|||8 octaves? Pffft...that pales in comparison to my 13 octave range.

MQ: I guess whenever anyone claims that Herman Li can play that fast with no technical assistance I have to laugh.

BQ: I'm watching The Event.|||MQ : i cant state a quote, but i find Slash is waaaaaaay too overrated. ye, he's great and all, better than me, for sure, but i have heard A LOT more impressive solos.

MQ2 : i'd have to agree with you on that one, Kurt Cobain.

MQ3 : Eaten - Bloodbath|||http://vigilantcitizen.com/?p=1676

oh the lulz|||Screech %26amp; Mike D are brothers just because they have the same name.

That Wonder Years kid is Marilyn Manson.(I think he's really a lawyer). Manson has a glass eye. Manson had his bottom ribs removed.|||John Lennon and Paul McCartney wanted Chuck Norris as the Drummer for The Beatles..|||All these kids are saying Tupac is actually dead... What a joke.|||I've heard people say Adam Lambert has a range of 9 octaves; there's also an offshoot of Chuck Norris facts that joke about Adam Lambert's voice instead (Google "Adam Lambert facts"), including:

- Some good singers can shatter glass with their high notes. Adam Lambert's high notes reassemble broken glass and put together jigsaw puzzles.

- Adam Lambert had a sing-off with Elvis Prestley. Elvis died.

- Adam Lambert can divide by zero

- Adam Lambert has sung through eternity twice

I could go on listing these, but the most ridiculous claim I've ever heard was that Adam Lambert is not a human, but an alien/angel/etc. sent here by God to make people happier and more tolerant.|||I simply had to find an example, as fascinating of a question that this is ;P

Ozzy Osbourne is a "vulgar, violent, and demonic" Satanist, apparently...

http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/False%20R…

That website in general provides me with much amusement :D

http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Evils%20i…

Also according to that website, Jimmy page is a devout follower of Satan and Columbine was the fault of a combined effort by Ozzy and Marilyn Manson. Lmao!

One need go no farther than the google homepage and type in '________ is' to get some ridiculous/amusing results...

Haha!|||Oh I have heard some Gems of ridiculous assertations in my time.

Such as Rush sold their souls to the devil and had Neal Peart replaced by John Rutsey so they could play "devilsh" music like "The Trees".....

Rod Stewart had to go to the ER and have all the **** pumped out of his stomach

And one of the wildest I ever heard, some raggy magazine even said that The Stone Roses was the greatest British album of all time, crazy stuff huh?

MA: Tommy Lee is easily and obviously the greatest Drummer of all time cause he Drums in a spinning cage Ya know, so rad....

MA2: Agreed about the Mercury overdos

BA: Electric Wizard|||Lolololol, I know people say this all the time, but seriously, someone once tried to tell me that Kirk Hammett was the best guitarist ever. They wouldn't even try to see things from a sensible point of view.

MQ: M. Shadows is the most talented singer to ever have lived. Hahahahahahaha. Oh, and it's Phil Anselmo's fault Dimebag Darrell died, which just so happens to be complete BS.

OH, and I also hear a lot of stupid rumors about Marilyn Manson. I don't like the guy, but you'd have to be stupid to believe some of the crap people say. Like that he had his ribcage removed to suck his own c*ck.

Here's a quote from him on the subject:

“If I really got my ribs removed, I would have been busy sucking my own dick on the wonder years instead of chasing winnie cooper. Besides, I wouldn't have sucked other people's ***** on stage, either. I would have been sucking my own. Plus, who really has time to be killing puppies when you can be sucking your own dick? I think I'm gonna call the surgeon in the morning.”

BQ: Cemetery Gates - Pantera.|||That the Beatles actually wrote all their songs and played their own instruments.
