Johnathon Edwards the triple jumper?

I have read that former world record holder of the triple jump, johnathon Edwards has gone from devout Christian to atheist,in recent years. Is this correct? And if so,what brought the change in him?|||I heard Jonathan Edwards speaking on the radio last week, and when the interviewer asked, 'You're a Christian, aren't you?' he replied, 'I used to be'.

I have no idea why Jonathan is now describing himself thus. All I can say is that being a Christian is not down to a human's opinion or effort; it is a work of God. If someone is genuinely a Christian, ie they have genuinely repented of their sins %26amp; trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, they cannot lose their salvation. Being saved does not depend on them, but on what Jesus Christ has already done! If it were possible for somebody to lose this spectacular salvation, then there would be no assurance for the Christian %26amp; Jesus's death would have been in vain!

So, back to Jonathan: Either he is a Christian, who has backslidden away from God, or he was never truly converted in the first place. I am in no position to judge either way, neither are you; only God knows Jonathan's heart.
