Is there a world record holder for earliest walking baby?

I am trying to see hold old the youngest baby is to start walking or where I can view that information, my son is 7 1/2 months and is already taken a few steps, thank you for your help|||I Shouldn’t Boast, but this Walking Lark is Easy

Baby Reuben walking on his own at six months old

As the average child only starts walking at about 12 months, Reuben’s precocity has left doctors as surprised as Mrs Robinson and her husband John.

“It is exceptionally early,” said Dr Martin Ward-Platt, a consultant paediatrician at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle. “At a year about half of babies have started to walk. A few start at nine months and about five per cent at 10 months. Before that is very unusual.” …

… Dr Ward-Platt said early walking had more to do with brain development and co-ordination. He also said that it did not necessarily point to other advanced development in social, vocal or other skills.

“You can be a really quick walker but a slow talker. There again, it is possible to be a slow walker but a really quick talker. It really is not indicative of other developmental skills,” he said.

“Learning to walk at six months is highly unusual. There again, most of us are average but there are always extremes, who are perfectly normal, at either end of the scale.” …

Most babies start to walk between 11 and 13 months, though anything up to 17 months is considered normal, as gradual sensory and motor development leads to increasing use and co-ordination of the large muscles of the legs, trunk and arms…

Most experts believe parents should not hurry their child into walking as it can actually slow progress if they fall too often.

|||I'm not sure about a record, but my oldest son walked the day before he turned 8 months old. 5, 6, 7, or 8 months is not too young. All babies develop differently and have different muscle growth. That is the reason there is not set time for walking in children. Every child develops at their own pace.|||9 months is the earliest. For a baby to be walking at 5, 6,7, or 8 months is very rare. The babies bodies are not strong enough Ask your pediatrician, he/she will tell you.
